The butterfly garden at McGowen began with the breaking of the sod
on May 4th 2008. Funding for this garden was initially through the purchase of commemorative bricks and a generous
donation from our local Wal-mart. It is sustained through PTA funding and through donations of plants, garden marterials and
labor from our McGowen students and families.
The butterfly garden is located between the front door and the flag pole. The area has a stone walk way and a seating area as well as a set of engraved bricks purchased by McGowen families to commemorate our first year at McGowen!
A variety of plants can be found in the garden. Many of them attract butterflies.
